Back in the day, babies slept on their stomachs - per doctor's orders. It was natural for a baby to push-up on his arms to get a look around - a truly exciting and picture-taking moment.
Now, babies sleep on their backs and have no opportunity to push-up. In fact, most babies cry for tummy time. My grandson was unable to push-up and I was distraught to discover his parents were not allowing for tummy time at all, because he cried!
This book is worth ten times what I paid for it. (a slight exaggeration) One side has black and white patterns with a safety mirror, perfect for capturing babies attention. Within a few weeks his tummy time improved, and shortly thereafter he really enjoyed it.
You can flip it over to the colorful side when baby is able to discern colors. (mostly red, as this is the first color babies can see)
Highly recommended by this grandmother.

I don't know why it's called a book...The toy i got is a long piece of thick plastic...it's impossible to fold, it's not soft and not useful at all! It does not look like a book on a picture!!! VERY disappointed...

This double sided bumper book keeps my 3 month old grand daughter happy for long stretches! She looks and coos and grins the whole time the zebra, mirror and flower are in her view. My daughter says the baby is already very interested in the colorful flip side with it's crinkly pop out surprises.
It can be tied to the rails of the crib or placed in the play yard for lots of happy infant time. I believe it's my grand daughters favorite toy besides sucking on her own little fists! LOL!!

My son has stared at the images on this since he was one week old. It has ties on it so you can tie it to the crib. I tied it inside his play pen around the head end when he was 10 weeks old and it made him cry less at tummy time. In just 2 weeks, he now looks forward to tummy time so he can stare at the images. He looks the longest at the flower and the snail. Today I brought it out of the playpen, onto the floor (the accordian design keeps it standing up even after months of being tied to the crib side) and turned it around to the colorful side and the result was amazing! he cooed at it during tummy time for 15 minutes! This is especially great because I can fold it up and take it with me for the afternoon or on vacation so he can have tummy time anywhere! I would highly recommend this product!

I love the item because it is so versatile. It can be used for tummy time, in a pack and play, crib, or sometimes I wrap it around her high chair and tuck the edges into her seat so she can view it while I make dinner. The item is long enough for my liking, but it does not act as a crib bumper as it definitely isn't long enough to go around the whole crib. Pictures are stimulating, but doesn't keep her attention for long periods of time.
